We headed back to Glacier National Park and were wonderfully surprised that the Going-to-the-Sun Road was open a little more. We were able to drive all the way up to Avalanche Creek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did a 5-mile hike to Avalanche Lake. It was an incredible hike and the view at the end was breathtaking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lucas and Henry always want to take the path less traveled. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The hike up to Avalanche Lake is a moderate hike. It took about 2.5 hours to hike to the lake. The path is winding and a little steep at times. Henry complained, but he made it. We saw people of all ages on the hike. We even saw people in flip-flops. I am not sure I could have done that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hiking to the lake, we felt like we were in an enchanted forest. There are water falls and big fallen trees. We heard a lot of birds. Part of the hike are in such dense forest that it starts to get a little dark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite all of his complaining on the way up, Henry practically ran all the way back from Avalanche Lake to the car. We were all energized by the awe-inspiring views of the lake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While driving out of the park we got lucky and saw a black bear. We were in our car, so we could not get a great picture. We knew better than to get out of the car. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
