This time last year we were living in a beach town in Nicaragua. We could see the ocean from our balcony. This year we have been landlocked except for a couple of weeks at the beach. The first week was our mega aunt, uncle, and cousin weekend in Hilton Head, S.C.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our second week was another aunt, uncle, and cousin-filled week in Kiawah, S.C. This time we met up with our aunts and uncles on Lois, my stepmom\u2019s side. We also got to spend time with my sister Emily, her husband Jonathan, and our adorable nephew Milo.\u00a0 We miss them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiawah is an island 40 minutes south of Charleston. It boasts beautiful golf courses that host PGA events. The beaches are big and not crowded.\u00a0It is quiet and peaceful (even with a house full of 16 people)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We drove down early and spent the night in Charleston. We walked around the city. We browsed the city market. We ate a seafood tower at the Crab House. We watched an amazing breakdance show in Marion Square. Lucas and Henry even got to participate.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Kiawah, we stayed in a large house a block from the beach.\u00a0\u00a0Lucas and Henry got to hang out with our cousins Alex and Zach. They also had fun hanging out with Milo; reading and singing to him.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We spent our days hanging out at the beach and the pool. Emily cooked gourmet meals. My dad had a birthday.  Lots of laughs and quality family time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breath-holding contest. Judy is the reigning champion at 1 minute and 4 seconds.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Lucas and Henry got new sunglasses. My dad bought a sunshade called a Shibumi. We were skeptical at first, but it is easy to set up and provides a lot of shade. It is easier than hauling and setting up heavy umbrellas (we should have an affiliate link-Ha!).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael and Lucas headed out to golf with my dad and uncles. The played Turtle Point golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Lucas got par on a couple of holes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We took long walks and bike rides on the beach. The water was warm and the waves were not too big.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a relaxing week. We love seeing family and we love the beach.\u00a0It was a win-win for the Watkins family. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
