The highlight of our third week in Krabi was snorkeling with sharks<\/span>. Brendon<\/span>\u00a0Sing from Shark Guardian came to Forever Wild to give a presentation about sharks<\/span>. We<\/span>\u00a0met Brendon and his family last October in Krabi when we were in a worldschooling program at Spirit Mountain<\/span>. The<\/span>\u00a0mission of Shark Guardian\u00a0<\/span>is to “advance the conservation of sharks and the natural environment through conservation, education, research projects, and expeditions.<\/span>” https:\/\/www.sharkguardian.org\/<\/span><\/p>\n

A group of us<\/span>\u00a0went on an expedition with Brendon to snorkel with blacktip Reef sharks in Phi Phi Island<\/span>. Brendon<\/span>\u00a0taught us how to snorkel\u00a0<\/span>with the sharks so<\/span>\u00a0we did not scare them away<\/span>. You<\/span>\u00a0have to be calm and quiet<\/span>. Sharks<\/span>\u00a0have\u00a0<\/span>great<\/span>\u00a0hearing<\/span>. He<\/span>\u00a0also told us how to protect the coral reef by not standing on\u00a0<\/span>it<\/span>\u00a0or kicking it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brendon took us to a shark\u00a0<\/span>nursery<\/span>\u00a0where we saw several baby\u00a0<\/span>sharks<\/span>\u00a0and a few mama sharks<\/span>. We<\/span>\u00a0stayed calm\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0they were swimming all around us<\/span>. We<\/span>\u00a0did not see any sharks at the second snorkel spot, but there were tons of colorful fish and coral reefs.<\/span><\/p>\n
