Bankso hosted the FIS Snowboard World Cup while we were there. Michael saw a notice about volunteering, so he and I signed up. We got credentials and swag, including a waterproof jacket, neck warmer, sunglasses, and t-shirts. We engaged with the fans and watched a lot of the competition. It was interesting to be in the room during media interviews. We were also well-fed.
Lucas and Henry stayed home while we volunteered. They are often busy playing outside or playing Dungeons and Dragons, Minecraft, and Roblox with their new friends.
We joined in the weekly family dinner for the hub. It was at a restaurant called La Skara where many of the dinner items are cooked on a grill at the table.
Michael, Lucas, and Henry skied three times this week. The conditions on the mountain get better every week. They are having fun now that more slopes are open and the lift lines are shorter.
Henry went ice skating with several kids. Ice skating is now a favorite activity for the boys since we first went ice skating in Austria on Christmas Eve. They boys made pasta at their kids club. Michael and I went to Izgreva hot springs; one of the weekly activities at the hub. We plan to take Lucas and Henry next time.
We volunteered again at Bansko Street Dogs. This week Lucas and Henry took Petra and I got Sophie. We were fortunate to get to take them on a walk in the snow. It was the first big snow of the season in Bansko. The park was a winter wonderland. Lucas and Henry enjoy playing in the snow.
The snow came on a special day, Michael’s birthday. It was a low-key day. We made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon for his birthday breakfast. Lucas made jalapeno poppers for Michael’s birthday lunch. Michael and I went to dinner with some other parents at Leonardo’s, a fancy Italian restaurant.
