Bansko, Bulgaria – Week 6

Week 6 in Bulgaria is a week of goodbyes. The second session of the worldschooling hub is ending, and some families were moving on. Four weeks went by fast. It is sad to see the families go, but we believe we will see many of them again somewhere in the world.

We had a week full of activities. Lucas and Henry had friends over for a gaming night. They played Roblox and Nintendo Switch. Lucas and Henry have a lot of freedom to hang out with their friends. Bansko is a safe town. They often walk a few blocks to a soccer field and run to the corner store to buy snacks.

The weather warmed up this week. It even reached 50 degrees by the end of the week. We would rather have colder weather and snow, but it is out of our control.

This week is a UK holiday. The regular gondola line is incredibly long because of the vacationers, but Michael, Lucas, and Henry all have fast passes to bypass the line. Lucas and Henry went skiing together without us for the first time this week. They have phones and they know the mountain. They bought their own lunch and hot chocolates, and had a great time.

Sunday was the Super Bowl. We had to watch because Michael’s Kansas City Chiefs played. The game started at 1:30 a.m. It was an exciting game, but we were tired the next day.

Super Bowl party in the middle of the night.

Lucas and Henry went rock climbing. Lucas rock climbed at summer camp last year, and he remembered a lot because he ascended the rock like a champ. He easily made it up the harder side of the rock face. Henry did a great job climbing as well. Lucas and Henry also went bowling.

We went to the dentist for teeth cleanings this week. We get our teeth cleaned while traveling because it is too expensive in the United States. Cleanings in the United States can cost as much as $300 per cleaning. We do not pay more than $40 per cleaning when we visit dentists abroad.

We welcomed the new families for the third session of the worldschooling hub. Our friends Jill and Declan, who we met last year in Ecuador, made the trip to Bulgaria. We are excited to get to know the new families and continue having fun in Bankso.
