Week 3 in Zlatibor: Friends, Fun, and a Trebuchet!

Our third week in Zlatibor has been full of energy and new faces! We were so happy to welcome more friends—the De Palmas and the Burkolters—who arrived to stay nearby for the next month. With their arrival, our little mountain town adventure has become even more lively. One evening, we all went to watch the water show by the lake—a beautiful and colorful display.

Daily routines are shaping up nicely: art lessons and coffee meetups are still going strong a few days a week, and Pool, pickleball and darts have become favorite pastimes for both kids and adults. We had a double birthday celebration for Leo and Ally, complete with cake, laughter, and a whole crew of happy kids.

One of the week’s highlights was building a real working trebuchet together! It was a fun, hands-on project where everyone pitched in, and we learned that a trebuchet uses a counterweight system—different from your standard catapult—to launch projectiles; a bit of medieval engineering.

The kids have become quite independent, often roaming the town together to pick up groceries or do some shopping. It’s peaceful and relaxing here, and there’s something comforting about life moving at a slower pace in a small mountain town.

With five more weeks ahead of us in Zlatibor, we’re soaking it all in and looking forward to more adventures with friends and family.
