Week 4 in Zlatibor: Finding Our Groove

We’ve officially hit the halfway point of our stay in Zlatibor—and something has shifted. After three weeks of figuring out activities, deciphering labels at the supermarket, and exploring all the shops, we’ve found our rhythm. This place feels less like a stop on our travels and more like home. Usually, when we travel, we spend 4 to 6 weeks in one place. Long enough to explore, but just when we start to feel comfortable, it’s time to pack up again. This time is different. With 8 full weeks in Zlatibor, we’re settling in deeper. We now know which grocery store carries the peanut butter the kids like, and which shortcut gets us home fastest when rain clouds roll in.

This week was packed with fun. The kids celebrated their friend Josh’s birthday at a ropes course high in the pines—lots of laughter, and just enough wobbly bridges to keep things exciting. Art class continues to be a highlight; there’s nothing quite like watching their creativity bloom in a new setting. Evenings have been filled with pool, movie nights, card games, and plenty of pickleball matches (family bragging rights are fiercely contested!). We even saw a meteor shower!

It’s a good feeling, this slower pace. We’re not rushing to squeeze everything in. We can revisit favorite spots, try new things without pressure, and just… live here for a while. Four more weeks to go, and we’re excited to see what Zlatibor still has in store for us.
