Spending an extended time in Cyprus gave our travel crew the opportunity to take on a fluffy (and slightly chaotic) challenge — fostering five kittens from Tala Cats https://www.talacats.com/ here in Cyprus. Their names: Rocky, Rico, Pixel, Miles, and Lightfoot. Five little bundles of fur, energy, and squeaky meows who quickly turned our home into a mini kitten daycare!
Vicki and Renee spearheaded this adventure. They both have a lot of experience fostering and taking care of animals. When they first arrived, these kittens were so small and fragile. Renee and Vicki were the true heroes — taking the night shifts, bottle-feeding every few hours, and making sure each kitten stayed warm and hydrated. Those early weeks were exhausting, but full of sweet, sleepy snuggles. Unfortunately, not long after arriving, all five kittens got sick. It was heartbreaking — so many vet trips, medications, and long nights for Vicki and Renee— but they worked tirelessly to nurse them back to health. Slowly, their eyes brightened, their appetites returned, and those little tails started wagging again.
Once they were stable, I took on the early morning shift — feeding time, cleaning their enclosure, and generally trying to keep the chaos under control. There’s something oddly peaceful about being up early with a bunch of tiny kittens, even if it does mean constant kitty litter cleaning. Lucas and Henry loved having the kittens around. There were giggles, cuddles, and countless games of chase-the-string. Fostering is definitely a lot of work — there’s feeding, cleaning, vet visits, and constant supervision — but it’s also rewarding. Watching these tiny, fragile kittens grow into healthy, happy little cats is something we’ll never forget.
Each kitten had their own personality. Rocky and Rico were the hardiest of the bunch — playful, strong, and always wanting to play. They grew quickly and were the first to return to Tala for rehoming. Pixel, Miles, and Lightfoot took a little longer to catch up, but they all grew into confident, curious little cats. So here’s to Rocky, Rico, Pixel, Miles, and Lightfoot — five tiny souls who filled our house (and hearts) with purrs, laughter, and just a little bit of chaos.
