Tennis is still a big sport in our household. Lucas loved being a ball boy last year at the Winston-Salem Open, so we made sure to be back in Winston-Salem this year so he could do it again. The best part about coming back to this tournament is seeing family. We stayed with my dad, and we got to see my sister, Emily, my brother, Seth, and their kids.
Lucas did a great job again this year. On some days, he was at the tennis tournament for 10 hours. Michael, Henry, My dad Richard, Kay and I had the opportunity to watch some tennis too.
Emily came up for a week with our nephew, Milo. Lucas and Henry loved hanging out with Milo. They are good big cousins. We did a lot of fun activities that week including the pool, the park, and Kaleideum, the Winston-Salem children’s museum.
We also played a lot of tennis and pickleball. Pickleball is our new obsession. If you have not played pickleball before, we suggest you try it. We had a blast playing with my dad’s pickleball league. Lucas and I also went with my dad to his morning tennis league.
Seeing the Winston-Salem Dash minor league baseball game was a blast. Lucas and Henry got balls from the players. Henry made it on the jumbotron (an item on his bucket list). The Dash lost, but the Watkins won!
Lucas and Henry got quality time with their cousins. Max and Greta came to Winston-Salem for a couple of days, and then we went to Chapel Hill for the day to see their new house. We stopped by Max’s new school, and my brother Seth got great action shots jumping off the swings.
We cherish the time we get to spend with family. November will be the next time we are all together.
