Vegas Baby!

Lucas has wanted to go to Las Vegas since he watched the movie.

The timing worked out that we were able to meet Michael’s mom, Jeanie, and his sister, Melissa, in Vegas to celebrate their Mema, who died earlier this year.

We went over what would be Mema’s birthday weekend. Mema loved Vegas. She would go twice a year, and Michael would go with her one of those times. She loved the shows and playing the slots. Vegas is where I first met Jeanie and Mema almost 20 years ago.

We got there a day before Jeanie and Melissa. We stayed at the Plaza Hotel downtown because they have pickleball courts. We walked along Fremont Street at 10 p.m. the day we arrived. It was eye-opening for the boys.

Once Jeanie and Melissa arrived, we stayed in an Airbnb at the Jockey Club, which is attached to the Cosmopolitan. We saw Extravaganza, a variety show at Bally’s. We also saw Beatles Love, and we loved it!

Vegas is not Vegas without eating at a buffet. We ate at the Bellagio buffet. The dessert spread made Henry smile. Nobody left hungry.

Our average steps were over 20,000 each day. The boys enjoyed walking through the casinos and seeing the different hotels.

Two days were not enough, so after a weekend of hiking in Utah, we came back to Las Vegas for more fun. This time we stayed at Circus, Circus. Henry bought a flashy hat that lights up to music. Lucas bought playing cards. He is obsessed with blackjack.

Circus, Circus has waterslides that kept Lucas and Henry occupied for much of the day. We saw a third show, the Potted Potter. It is a great show for any Harry Potter fans.

We stopped in at the pawn shop made famous by the show Pawn Stars. Lucas and Henry like watching the show. The show teaches a good life lesson about how to not be beholden to a pawn shop.

Vegas was fun, but we had our fill. Until next time!
