We try to make it back to Arizona every year to see Michael’s family. We were in Arizona this time last year. This year, we spent about five weeks.
Since we were there for a while, Henry went to school with his cousins Violet and Barrett. Luna and Radar got to ride with them to school several times. He is the same age as Violet, so they are in the same class. Lucas and Henry went to school with Violet for three weeks three years ago. Lucas was happy to stay home and have some time without Henry. We had to get the green out of Henry’s hair because the school does not allow dyed hair. A fresh haircut and several washes helped do the trick.
Violet and Barrett have busy schedules. Violet does gymnastics and plays softball. Barrett does jujitsu and plays soccer. We went to watch their activities a few times. Violet’s favorite apparatus is the beam. We are impressed with her gymnastic skills.
We spent Halloween in Arizona. The kids all wanted scary costumes. Lucas was a soul taker, Henry was a demon summoner, Violet was a vampire, and Barrett was a devil. We went to a Halloween party, and then the kids collected way too much candy trick-or-treating.
Henry took another trip around the sun while we were in Arizona. He turned the big 1-0. He loved that he got to go to school on his birthday. They gave him a birthday crown to wear, and we went to school to eat lunch with him. The big activity for his birthday was an escape room. It was his first time, and we escaped!
Michael, Melissa, Lucas, and Henry competed in a pickleball tournament while we were in Arizona. We do not play regularly, but it is one of our favorite activities. The tournament canceled the junior bracket because not enough kids signed up, so Lucas and Henry played in the 19-49 age bracket. They did not win, but they played great. It was a fun weekend.
Michael’s mom’s birthday is at the end of November. We celebrated with her early since we were not going to be there on the big day. I made eggplant parmesan (one of her favorite dishes), and we made cards and signs. We did a lot of celebrating in Arizona.
