The Big Apple

We spent two days in New York City as part of our road trip from North Carolina to Boston. Two days is not enough time in the Big Apple, but we made the most of it.

We rode the Staten Island Ferry and got a great view of the Statue of Liberty. Some day we will go back and go inside. We saw the Charging Bull and the 9/11 memorial.

We enjoyed seeing the holiday decorations all around the city. Macy’s entire building lit up to music. The tree in Rockefeller Center was not lit up yet (the lighting ceremony was the day after we left), but we enjoyed seeing it. We caught the rehearsals for a holiday ice skating show at Bryant Park.

Lucas and Henry enjoyed the food scene. Who wouldn’t be excited about New York Pizza and street hotdogs? Henry got a street pretzel. We ate, and we were serenaded at the Stardust Diner. The cheesecake at Junior’s is delicious.

We walked around Central Park despite the cold weather. We also checked out FAO Schwarz, the Lego Store, the Nintendo Store, the Harry Potter Store, the Hershey’s Store and the M&M store. Lucas and Henry joked that we were torturing them because they could not buy anything, but they had a great time looking at everything.

The most exciting part of our trip to NYC was seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Lucas, Henry, and I read the play. The cast and crew did a wonderful job bringing it to the stage.

Until next time NYC. Thanks for the memories.
