Blending our Worlds in Krabi, Thailand

We miss our family back in the United States when we travel, but we also have an amazing worldschooling family. We were excited to get to introduce them to each other. Michael masterminded a week at Cha Wan Villa, a lovely complex in Krabi, with his sister, Melissa, her family, and two worldschooling families.

We had the entire villa complex to ourselves, and the owner even bought a ping pong table for the game room at our request. We spent a lot of time hanging around the pool. There was some heated ping pong action, karaoke, game playing, physics classes and board game strategy classes. Kristian won most improved at ping pong, but Lucas held the winning record in their matchups.

We also got out to explore more of Krabi. Michael ticked off a bucket list item when we snorkeled at night to see bioluminescent plankton. It was a magical experience. It looks like your body is giving off sparks when you move in the water. It had to be dark to see the plankton, so we do not have any pictures of it, but Dexter, Barrett and Vivian learned more about the plankton when we got home and gave a presentation about it.

Lucas, Henry, and their friends went to jiu-jitsu each morning at Over the Top Fitness where they trained for the last month. Mike and Kristian joined in too. Michael worked out at the gym. Vicki and I snuck out one morning for a walk along the beach and breakfast. The ladies and Dexter went for massages and nails.

We supported Jake and Gabe again at open mic night. The kids played pool while we listened to the music. Michael, Melissa, Kristian, and Chloe also went out to the bars to play pool, but they could not get into all of the bars. The Ao Nang night market is a favorite for Lucas and Henry. They like the Mexican food there. We also separately went to a Mexican Restaurant in Krabi after snorkeling.

On our last night in Krabi, we went to The Boat Coffee restaurant for beach, food, and friends. We also did an impromptu beach clean-up. the beaches in Krabi have a lot of trash.

It is sad to say farewell to our worldschooling friends, but it is only for two weeks. We will see them again in Malaysia.
