Settling into Life in Fethiye

Our first couple of weeks in Fethiye have been all about settling in—and honestly, it happened faster than we expected. We’re staying in an apartment building with three other families, and another family is just a block away, which makes everything feel like a little community right from the start.
One of the first things we discovered was the local market that pops up every Tuesday and Friday. It’s quickly become part of our routine. We get all our fruits and veggies there—fresh, affordable, and way better than anything we usually find back home. Tuesdays are especially fun because it’s not just food; you can also browse clothes, home goods, and all kinds of random finds.
The kids have been busy here. There are so many parks around Fethiye, and we’ve made a habit of stopping by before or after whatever else we’re doing that day. It’s such an easy way for them to run around. They also spent a couple of weeks at a robotics lab, which was a fun mix of learning and social time.

We’ve been trying to stay active too. On Saturdays, we joined a local 5K at Şehit Fethi Bey Park, which was a great way to connect with the local community. During the week, the kids and Michael go to the gym three times, and the kids also join calisthenics sessions with Kristian a few days a week.
Fethiye itself is incredibly walkable, which we love. But in true Michael fashion, he found a way to make things even more efficient—by buying two electric scooters. Now he zips around town while the rest of us stroll. It’s become part of the daily rhythm. We’ve also taken time to explore, going on long walks and checking out places like the ancient ruins of Telmessos. It’s surreal to just casually walk past so much history.
It has been easy to find our groove, build routines, and start to feel at home in this beautiful, laid-back town.
