We often get asked what we do all day. Even if you have not asked us, you are probably thinking about it.
We quit our 9-5 jobs, we pulled the kids out of school. What could we possibly do with our time?
Before coronavirus, we were busy traveling and seeing the sights. Planning travel takes a lot of time. Also, doing the traveling is time-consuming.
We are still busy, despite coronavirus. The kids do formal school work in the mornings. Planning the lessons and then working with them takes a few hours each day.
Judy reads to the boys. They have burned through a few Harry Potter books as well as classics like James and the giant peach. Some days they read for hours at a time.
We all read on our own. The boys have found some chapter book series that they like. The Magic Treehouse, Roscoe Riley, and the series Weird School books by Dan Gutman.
Movies are a big hit. We have been working our way through classics like Star Wars and Indiana Jones. We also watch each Harry Potter movie after finishing the book.
Michael spends several hours a week managing real estate. This helps us afford to travel.
Where we are staying now we go swimming most days. We exercise. We play cards.
There are rarely times that we are bored. But we also embrace being bored when it happens. With smartphones and computers, it is hard to truly take time and appreciate what is around us.
We kept our lives too busy before traveling with the kind of busy we did not want to be. We love being busy now spending time with each other. Spending time together playing, talking, singing, dancing, watching, cuddling, and just being.
As people with kids know, kids are a full-time job. Michael and I have chosen to take on that job full time instead of outsourcing it to teachers and caretakers.
The first ten years of being parents have already gone by so quickly. We are slowing down now so that we can have more time together. It has not gotten old yet and we have no regrets.
So, in case you are wondering or were concerned about us, we have plenty to keep us busy.
