We are taking advantage of the beautiful weather, and of having a car by going to the beach often. We have explored beaches north and south of San Juan Del Sur. The beaches in Nicaragua are practically empty. Today we visited Playa Maderas again and saw less than 10 people on the beach and a handful of surfers in the water in the two and a half hours we were there. All of those people were at least 50 yards away from us.
The beaches are not commercialized like back in the States and it is wonderful. You will not find rows of beach chairs that block the breeze. You won’t hear loud music or see traffic zooming by. There are no big highrises that ruin the view. It is our paradise.
We met a family in our neighborhood with a son Lucas’ age. Lucas and Henry are having a blast hanging out with someone other than each other for the first time in over three months. They play Minecraft, go to the pool, run around with walkie talkies, and go to the beach.
We spend a lot of time at our house these days. We all need to get out and going to the beach is the best way for us to do that. The boys get to run around, play in the sand, and swim. Michael gets to take naps. The ocean air is medicine for our souls.
