Our week in Atlanta was productive. We had a long to-do list and we got it all done. We spent time with Judy’s sister. We got to walk Josie and Dexter. We got to see Grandma Miriam!!! We will be back in Atlanta and maybe next time we will get to see all of our friends and eat at our favorite restaurants.
We celebrated Michael’s birthday with take-out hibachi from our favorite hibachi restaurant, Nikato. It was good, but it is not the same as watching your meal cooked in front of you. We spent most of the week at home. The kids had school, and Michael and Judy were working. Luckily our place was awesome. It has a zipline in the backyard and a mini-trampoline in the basement. We also dug out the kids’ nerf guns and played cards. The kids had a blast.
We are heading back to Winston-Salem. On the way home, we are stopping at a mass vaccination site to get Judy’s dad a COVID vaccine. He has had a hard time trying to get an appointment. The earliest he can get through his medical provider is March 18. We hope that they speed up the vaccination process. We are looking forward to getting our vaccinations sometime this year. We want to make more plans to travel. We are hesitant to do so until COVID starts getting under control.
The kids had another successful week of school. They are in charge of their own schedules and once they log on we only see them on breaks. They have been doing a great job of learning the technology and managing their own time. They both have self-directed projects that they will be working on all semester. Henry is building a board game with another classmate. Lucas is going to build a drone. They are excited each day about logging on and seeing their friends. We are happy with our decision to put them in a program this semester.
It is hard to believe next week is already February. This time last year we were getting ready to fly to Costa Rica for what turned into a seven-month adventure in Central America. We hope that this time next year (if not sooner) we will be getting ready to fly off to another international location.
