Our Last Days in North Carolina

We are winding up our time in North Carolina. The past six months have been a lot of things: Emotional, stable, relaxing, stressful, busy, and fun.  Getting to spend so much time with my dad and a lot of my family was great. It was sad because we lost Lois. It was nice to be in one place for a while. It was stressful getting back into work and school, even though both are flexible.

We packed our last week in North Carolina full of fun activities.

Lucas and Henry are taking chemistry this semester. They did an experiment where they let an egg sit in Vinegar for a week. The eggshell absorbed the acid and dissolved. All that was left was the soft tissue that lined the inside of the eggshell. The egg was rubbery and it bounced before it broke.

We made bubble gum from a kit we bought on amazon. We are impressed with ourselves because we often buy kits like this one and never do them. The boys added food coloring and had a blast turning their mouths blue and green. They said it tasted pretty good.

We had one more visit with cousins. They played together all weekend. We will miss them when we go, but we are glad we got to see them so much while we were here. The kids can text each other to stay in touch and we will have a reunion later this year.

We love to play games. Lucas and Henry discovered many games while we were here. Clue and Scrabble were among their favorite. We will have to train while we are gone so that we can beat grandpa in Scrabble when we return.

We ate well in North Carolina. We all gained a little weight. We enjoyed having a nice kitchen to work in.

We have been hibernating this winter, but the fire pit has helped get us out of the house even on the coldest days.

Goodbye for now North Carolina. Until we meet again.
