Henry was excited to pack up and go back to Camp Kanuga this summer. He had a great time last summer at his one-week starter camp. This year Lucas went to Camp Kanuga with Henry for nine days. Lucas went white water rafting. Henry did rock climbing.
Michael and I stayed in North Carolina with my dad while they were away at camp. We are mostly together all day, every day, so being apart for nine days is strange. We stopped in Asheville for the night on our way to pick Lucas and Henry up from camp. Asheville is a fun eclectic town. We ate vegan food and watched a comedy show at Eurisko Beer Company.
After reuniting with Lucas and Henry at camp, we hit the road and drove to Charlevoix, Michigan to see our worldschooling friends, the Hansens. It is not a Watkins’ summer without a road trip. We first met the Hansens in Ecuador. We visited them last year in Michigan with several other families. We had so much fun we made the trip again this year. It was a relaxing week on the lake jet skiing, boat riding, playing baseball, and getting ice cream. We even took a plunge in the cold lake.
We have met amazing people during our travels. It is important for us to stay connected with our worldschooling friends.
