Lucas and Henry love each other, but for the past several months they have spent most of their time together. They are developing a strong bond, but we are also always on the lookout for opportunities to socialize.
Judy found the hotel on Ometepe by reaching out on Facebook before heading to Nicaragua. We decided to alter our plans and go to Ometepe for a few days because the owners of the Hospedaje Soma have two boys.
The hotel has two kittens, a cat, a dog, and pet rabbits. The boys loved playing with the two boys and the animals.
The kids were making rabbit traps, swimming and playing Minecraft and board games together.
We also met Axel, the son of the driver, Luis, who took us around the island. His son is Henry’s age. Axel came along with us on the day we went to Ojo de Agua. Ojo de Agua is a natural spring pool. The clear water comes from volcano Maderas via an underground river. Axel only spoke Spanish, but the boys had a great time.
Ojo de Agua has a Tarzan swing and a tight rope. We stayed there for several hours. It is a great way to cool off on a hot day.
Henry is more of a social butterfly, so he outwardly expresses his joy at finding friends. Lucas is shy and stoic, but we can tell that he appreciates having other kids besides his brother to hang out with.
We are loving the family time that we have, but we are also reaching out to find other people to meet.
Aside from finding friends, we are also glad we made the detour because Ometepe is a beautiful island.
We would definitely go back to Ometepe when we are back in Nicaragua.
