We promised Lucas and Henry skiing after spending time in the warmer climate of Southeast Asia. Our first ski spot for the 2025 ski season was at the Purgatory Resort in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. We met up with Michael’s mom, his sister, and her family for a fun week of skiing.
We stayed in a great condo right on the slopes. It was our first true ski-in/ski-out accommodation, and now we are spoiled. The temperatures were a little chilly (17-19 degrees Fahrenheit) the first couple of days, but the sun was shining, and the slopes were practically empty. The temperature rose a bit during the last few days of skiing.
Michael took another turn around the sun while we were here. On his birthday we skied in the morning. In the afternoon, we took a snowmobile tour. It is a first for all of us. We capped his birthday off with a home-cooked birthday dinner and a cake.
It was fun spending time with Michael’s family. We played games and laughed a lot. We will see them again in Arizona, but we are glad they made the trip up to Colorado to ski.
