In between our Forever Wild sessions in Krabi, Thailand and Penang, Malaysia we got to go back to our favorite city, Da Nang. We bid farewell to Thailand, we flew back to Da Nang to show Melissa, Mike, Violet, and Barrett the city we love. We spent eight days in Da Nang, and it was just as wonderful as we…

Forever Wild – Finding Community
Since arriving in Asia last August, we have been to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Malaysia is the tenth country on our Asia tour. We rejoined our traveling family — Forever Wild — in Penang, Malaysia. Lucas and Henry joined their friends for another fun month in our Forever Wild community at the…
Blending our Worlds in Krabi, Thailand
We miss our family back in the United States when we travel, but we also have an amazing worldschooling family. We were excited to get to introduce them to each other. Michael masterminded a week at Cha Wan Villa, a lovely complex in Krabi, with his sister, Melissa, her family, and two worldschooling families. We had the entire villa complex…
Thailand With Family
After the Krabi Forever Wild hub ended, we flew to Bangkok to meet Michael’s sister and her family. They made the long journey to meet us for a few weeks in Southeast Asia. It has been almost a year since we saw them. The first order of business was pickleball. Melissa is as excited about pickleball as Michael and Lucas.…
14 Years Strong – Lucas is Growing Up
Lucas is 14 years old. We started our wild worldschooling journey when he was eight years old. Oh my, how time flies. This post reflects on his last five years and all he saw and accomplished. Lucas is kind, smart, and hard-working. He makes us smile and laugh every day. Lucas was a rockstar before we started traveling. He won…
Snorkeling with Sharks!
The highlight of our third week in Krabi was snorkeling with sharks. Brendon Sing from Shark Guardian came to Forever Wild to give a presentation about sharks. We met Brendon and his family last October in Krabi when we were in a worldschooling program at Spirit Mountain. The mission of Shark Guardian is to “advance the conservation of sharks and the natural environment through…
The Ups and Downs of Krabi
Our experience in Krabi is much like our experience in Panglao, Philippines – there are days when it is amazing and days when it is not. We had surprises when we arrived at our accommodation in Krabi. We found out that the person who organized housing for the group was not upfront about many things. The two areas where the families are staying are not close…
Forever Wild
Community is a big focus of our travels. Traveling the world is exciting, but doing it with friends is even better. We reunited with one of our favorite traveling families, the Sigstons. We are participating in a hub called Forever Wild in Krabi, Thailand. Forever Wild is a program started by two educators who want to travel the world with their children. …
Asia Pickleball Open
Michael and Lucas headed to Ho Chi Minh to compete in the Asia Open Pickleball Championships. They played singles and doubles. There was no kids division, so Lucas played in the 19+ intermediate division in singles and the open and advanced doubles divisions. The tournament hosted over 600 players, prize money, and 16 countries represented. When Michael and Lucas arrived in Ho Chi Minh,…
10 Days in Seoul
We only had a short time in Seoul, but we kept busy exploring bustling markets and historical sites and immersing ourselves in the local culture (including pickleball). Our first view of Seoul when we exited the subway was the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a UFO-looking architectural marvel that houses a variety of exhibitions, shops, and cafes. The futuristic design of the plaza…
