All About Lucas

We found out we were pregnant with Lucas at the same time Michael was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for the first time. He was born a month after Michael finished his chemotherapy treatments. He was a ray of sunshine at a time when we needed it.

Lucas was an easy baby and is an easygoing kid. He has a calm temperament and a sweet disposition. He is reserved, but he has a silly side.

Lucas is athletic. He has taken to every sport he has played. He works hard and has a natural ability, which has created great opportunities for him. He played all-star baseball, he was MVP of his flag football league, he finished first in a triathlon in his age division. He does not toot his own horn, so we will brag for him. He is taking a break from organized sports while we travel, but he still exercises and loves to play catch.

Lucas’ new hobby is cooking. He looks up and follows recipes on his own without our help. He likes to make hashbrowns (from whole potatoes), eggs, chicken parmesan, penne alla vodka, nachos, and more. He is also an adventurous eater. He will try most things. He loves sushi and oysters. He also has a weakness for donuts and chips. He gets that from his dad.

The hardest things for Lucas about this trip has been missing family and friends and not having Chick-Fil-A.  Lucas likes homeschooling. He is happy hanging out with his family. He is not a social butterfly like Henry. He is shy in big groups and usually does best when he is one on one with friends. We were hoping that this trip would help him come out of his shell. COVID has made that a bit difficult to foster, but it is a goal we still have for him.

We are cherishing every second we spend with him on this travel journey because time is going by fast. He officially hit double digits this year. We are proud of Lucas and love him dearly.
