A lot can happen in a year. Looking back to where we were a year ago, it is amazing how different things are now in many respects.
This time last year Michael was undergoing chemotherapy for his second battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
I was still working full time while taking care of Michael and we were worldschooling Lucas and Henry. We just started schooling them on our own and we were nervous about it. After months of research and reading about homeschooling, worldschooling, and unschooling we still did not feel prepared for the endeavor. It is not scary anymore. It is challenging, but if we could go back to last year and give ourselves advice we would say: “relax, have fun, be curious. It will be ok.”
Seeing pictures from last fall reminds us of how much fun worldschooling was right from the beginning. Despite the stresses in our lives last year, we were together. Being together was and is the most important thing for us.
There was no Coronavirus last year. We got to do a lot of fun things back then that we cannot do now because of coronavirus.
Cancer and coronavirus are just a couple of reminders for us of how important it is to seize the moment. Right now we are spending time with family for the next couple of weeks. We are not sure what our next move is. We want to go out west, but the wildfires may cause us to shift gears again and make new plans. We will have to wait and see, but luckily we have the flexibility to do that.
