Cooling Off in California

We had a monster travel day from Seattle, Washington to Sunnyvale, California. 15 hours with stops. We had to pop into Aunt Beckala and Uncle Joe’s house because we left Lucas and Henry’s bows that they made in bushcraft there. Luckily it was on the way.

My brother Sam and his wife AC live in Sunnyvale. Unfortunately, we were not able to see our nieces, Nell and Vivian who were in the Netherlands visiting family. We still had a nice relaxing visit.

The weather in Sunnyvale is always sunny and warm 70s and 80s during the day and 50s and 60s at night. It was nice to be in milder weather before heading to 100+-degree weather in Arizona.

We did not venture out much because they have a beautiful house with lots of games. We played cornhole, bocci ball, and ladder toss. Their neighbors have a ping pong table.

We did get to spend the day with our friends from Montana. Jake and Noah were our neighbors for three weeks in Whitefish and instant friends with Lucas and Henry. We went to Rock and Jump Trampoline park and ate pizza and ice cream.

Lucas and Henry also got to spend the night at their house. Lucas and Henry haven’t had a sleepover with friends who are not cousins for a couple of years. The boys played Dungeons and Dragons, went to a skate park, ate ice cream, and watched Good Burger. It was great for them to be able to spend time with friends.

While Lucas and Henry were at their sleepover, we got to go out with Sam and AC.

We had plans to leave California and head to Las Vegas for a night, but we were having such a relaxing time at my brother’s house that we decided to stay for the entire week. That meant that instead of breaking up our trip to Arizona, we made the 12-hour drive in one day.

We made a stop in Los Angeles and had lunch with my cousin Haley and her boyfriend Lennon at Leo’s Vegan Cafe. It was great to catch up with them, even though it was a short visit.

The drive to Arizona is long. We ran into a dust storm and a severe lightning storm. It is not supposed to rain in Phoenix!

We made it safe and sound and had a nice reunion with Michael’s sister and her family. We saw them three weeks earlier in Montana. We love that we are getting to see them more often.
