Burning Up in Arizona

We try not to visit Arizona in the summer, but this year it was on our way back East and it had been too long since we saw Michael’s mom and Mema.  The week we visited the temperatures were in the 110s.

We stay with Michael’s sister Melissa when we visit. The cousins have a blast together. They have a great backyard with a pool, trampoline, and playground. There was a lot of card playing and swimming. Lucas worked on his backflip.

Everybody jump on Michael!
Jumping fun.
Who has the queen of spades?

They also have two dogs Radar and Luna. We enjoy the opportunity to be around pets since we do not have any.

Luna is ready for her close-up.
Radar loves to snuggle.

We did not do anything touristy while we were in Arizona. We did go take family photos. We had the most fun in the waiting room.

Lucas and Henry got to go horseback riding at the neighbors. We also got to learn more about horses and how to care for them. We made sure to get carrots for the horses to say thank you for letting us visit.

Savannah was a good sport.
The boys had to ride early because it was so hot.
Learning about feeding and watering horses.

Michael and Mike put a hitch on our car. We tried to make an appointment to have one installed, but the earliest appointment was weeks away. They said it was not too difficult to install. Now we will be able to get a bike rack and pick up our bikes when we go back through Atlanta.

It went on without a hitch.

We spent part of our visit house/pet sitting after Melissa, Mike, Violet, and Barrett headed to Missouri for vacation. It is the most space we have had in months. We saw Michael’s mom and Mema every day.

We love playing cards.

I also got to visit with my cousin Renee while we were in Arizona. I had not seen her in about 10 years. Despite the heat, we had a wonderful visit with family. We will be back in Arizona this fall. We are excited to go back when the weather is cooler.
