We put over 12,000 miles on our car in the last 6 months. We put 1,800 of those miles on in two and half days by driving from Phoenix to Atlanta, and an additional 280 miles two days later to get to Hilton Head, South Carolina. We do not recommend making this trip so quickly. Normally we would not rush, but our schedule was tight.
On our first day, we drove from Phoenix, Arizona to Midland, Texas. 735 miles and 11 hours in the car. We drove through New Mexico and stopped in El Paso, Texas for dinner.
On day two, we took a break in the middle of our day to stop at Michael’s alma mater, Texas Christian University. The boys had a lot of questions about college. Henry said he was going to bike everywhere because it was too far to walk. Lucas still wants to go to the University of Georgia, but he liked seeing what a college campus looks like.
We spent the second night in Jackson, Mississippi. We did not have time to explore the city. We checked in late and left early. Our final day of travel was 7 hours. We arrived in Georgia around 2 pm.
We spent a little less than 48 hours in Atlanta. We got to meet our new Nephew, Milo, and see some of our Atlanta friends. It was a short visit because we had to get to Hilton Head, South Carolina for an epic cousins’ beach week.
We love traveling, but this trip across the country was a little too fast. The next time we trek across the United States, we will take our time and see some sights along the way.
