Island Hopping, Snorkeling and a lot of Sun

On Day 2 in Bocas Del Toro, we hired a boat with a Dutch family staying near us that we met the day before. They have two boys ages 4 and 2.

We set out around 9 a.m. with our boat captain Maya. He planned a great day for us. Our main destination was to Zapatillas Island.

The first stop on the trip was to see starfish along the way. We stopped for about 10 minutes, saw starfish and then headed on to Coral Cay for snorkeling.

The green and blue water is what you see in movies. We could look at is all day. There weren’t a ton of fish, but the boys had a blast swimming around.

After snorkeling, we headed off to Zapatillas Island for some beach time.

The pictures don’t do it justice, but they also say it all. The boys played with sticks in the sand and in the water.

Our boat almost capsized as we were climbing back in when the motor failed. Luckily no one was hurt and Maya got the motor running again. The boys got to learn how to bail out a boat.

We went back to Coral Cay and had a delicious lunch. Michael and I shared a coconut curry fish, Lucas had chicken fingers that he said were the best he ever had, and Henry had pasta.

We were heading toward a final snorkel spot of the day around 4:00 p.m. when all of the kids fell asleep, so we just turned around and went back home a little sunburnt and a lot of happy!!!
