Boys’ Getaway

Michael, Lucas, and Henry got away for a few days of father/son bonding. The boys went about 40 minutes north to a small cabin near Pilot Mountain. We had such a great time hiking Pilot Mountain a few weeks ago, so it was a perfect spot for the boys to go back to.

They spent the first afternoon away hiking at Pilot Mountain. It has been in the 40s, but when the sun is out it feels great. Also, Lucas and Henry are rarely ever cold. They wear shorts all winter long. We have heard that Pilot Mountain has been very crowded on the weekends. They went on a Wednesday and there were very few people hiking.

The rest of the time they stayed in and around the cabin. The cabin is on a large plot of land. The boys took a hike and found miniature horses. They played frisbee and drove their remote-controlled car all over the property. They had Minecraft and movie nights and got to eat their favorite meals (salmon, kielbasa mac-n-cheese, and pizza).

Cabin getaways are not complete without a fire. The cabin had a fireplace inside and a fire pit outside. Michael got his fire time and the boys got S’mores.
