A Pinterest Fail, Halloween, and Henry’s Birthday

For Henry’s birthday, I attempted to make Minecraft cake pops. Henry loves cake pops. He asks to get them every time we pass a Starbucks. I am not a baker. I can follow a recipe, but I would not win any competitions. The only reason I tried was that my sister was in town and she has some baking knowledge. She used to work for a chocolate company.

We did not start off on the best foot because I didn’t get all of the correct ingredients. I forgot to get cake pop sticks. They did not have green chocolate melts. They had every other color.  I also could not find green gel food coloring. I made the cake, but we have Betty Crocker to thank for that.  Emily made the batter into cake pop batter. You have to add an extra egg and icing and freeze it once you shape it.

My sister and I had fun hanging out and making the cake squares (we cannot call them cake pops).

They turned out far from Pinterest perfect, but I think they are Watkins perfect. Our lives are not Pinterest perfect or Facebook fabulous. Our lives are Watkins wonderful. Each day is an adventure with ups and downs. It is the lows that make the highs that much sweeter. I am proud of the way the Minecraft cake squares turned out. They were made with love and they taste delicious.

The most important part of Henry’s birthday was being with family. The kids were able to trick or treat this year and they got to do it with their cousins.
