We have been on a wild ride. We wouldn’t change it right now, but there are things about a nomadic lifestyle that are difficult.
One of the hardest things is having to say goodbye. We meet great people wherever we go, but then we move on. We seem to stay long enough to start making friends before we pick up and explore somewhere new.
It has been especially hard since Covid. It takes longer to form friendships and meet people because of Covid. Then we do meet people and it’s time to go. Luckily, with technology, we are able to stay in touch with people we meet, but it is still sad.
On the flip side, we have met some of the most amazing people since we started traveling. The friendships that we have been making are genuine and they last because we are meeting like-minded people with whom we have a lot in common. Although goodbyes are hard we will see them all again eventually.
Lucas and Henry made friends in North Carolina while playing tennis. We plan to see them again next year when we visit North Carolina again.
Lucas and Henry still play online games with their friend Ty who they met in Nicaragua. We plan to meet back up with him and his parents in the future — hopefully in Asia.
We met up with friends in October that we met in Mexico in 2018. Lucas and Henry instantly connected with their friends like no time has passed.
Instead of goodbye, we should look at it as so long for now. Instead of goodbye, we will start saying we look forward to seeing you again. Instead of focusing on the goodbyes, we will focus on the fun we are having on this adventure.
